CEO of South African Tourism, Sisa Ntshona, has indicated that he will not be applying to renew his five-year tenure with the marketing body when his contract ends in September.
In a letter sent to all SA Tourism colleagues late yesterday (March 10) – which Tourism Update has seen – Ntshona noted that he had informed the board of this decision. The closing date for applications is tomorrow, March 12.
“I will however be staying on for the duration of my current term,” he said, adding that continuity and stability within the organisation were “vital”.
Ntshona noted that he had therefore also offered to be part of the recruitment process for a new CEO by forming part of the selection panel.
He said SA Tourism was undergoing “many significant changes”, with the COVID-19 pandemic throwing a further spanner in the works.
“This means we cannot afford a leadership vacuum. I will stay on to ensure a complete and comprehensive handover.”
Ntshona reiterated his commitment to the recovery of the tourism sector and to SA Tourism.
