Zimbabwe-based accommodation provider Far and Wide has expanded its footprint to Mozambique, with the opening of a new eco-lodge on Bazaruto Island on November 1.
Zenguelemo is a family-operated lodge with an eco-mindset and community involvement. It comprises three beach bungalows, eleven tented units and seven camp sites. Facilities include a swimming pool, central lodge, beach bar and restaurant, all set amongst coastal dune vegetation a few metres from the sea. The lodge has its own reef for snorkelling and scuba diving.
The 11 small stilted units, which have a permanent wooden structure with canvas walls and a fixed roof, are all connected by boardwalks. The camp sleeps a maximum of 22 guests and rooms can be configured as double or single beds. Each unit has two standard beds with linen and towels provided, a basin, a solar powered fan and plug point for charging electronics. There are two communal ablutions for men and women, each with three toilets, three showers and basins.
The beach bungalows have an open-plan design and an en-suite bathroom. They can accommodate two guests. They are situated among the flora and dunes and have glass doors leading out on to a deck and a private lounge area.
Bazaruto Archipelago National Park is home to a variety of bird life, mammals and reptiles that include red duiker, samango monkeys and snakes.
