Southern and East African tour operator Drifters Adventure Tours has changed the routing of its 16-day Botswana camping and accommodated tours to include immersive experiences such as rhino tracking, as the company seeks to capitalise on the upside potential of the adventure tourism sector.
For 2024, the routing for both Botswana tours now includes one night at Camp Silwane, adjacent to Hwange National Park in western Zimbabwe, followed by a night at Motobo National Park to the south and a night at the private Stevensford Game Reserve in Botswana’s Tuli block. Highlights include exceptional game viewing at Camp Silwane and rhino tracking on foot at Motobo.
The new sites add to an itinerary that also encompasses the Okavango Delta, the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, the Kalahari Desert, Maun, the Makgadikgadi Pans, Chobe National Park and the Victoria Falls.
“Adventure tourism is still very much a hot topic with new and exciting products constantly evolving, according to the latest travel trends and demand. Africa as a continent has so much to offer and at Drifters, we are always looking out for new ideas, routes and trends which ultimately enhance the traveller's experience,” said Drifters Sales and Marketing Manager, Gary Michaux.
Drifters currently operates a fleet of 24 custom-built, state-of-the-art safari vehicles specifically designed for fully-inclusive overland tours for groups of up to 16 people in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Michaux said the company had experienced a flood of enquiries for the latter part of 2024.
“High flight prices continue to be an obstacle, but on a positive note, it is encouraging to see requests coming from New Zealand, Australia, Canada and America.”
