The Blue Train has suspended its services, effective until April 30, heeding President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of a National State of Disaster and a ban on gatherings of more than 100 people.

Guests due to travel on The Blue Train between March 18 and August 31 have two options, neither of which involve incurring penalties:

• Postpone travel only once to any date that falls within September 1 and December 31, 2021. Only one postponement will be allowed during the 69 weeks.
• Cancel confirmed bookings and receive a full refund.

Any costs or expenses incurred as a result of the postponement such as flights, accommodation, transfers, excursions and others would be at the customers’ expense.

Guests who are booked but are yet to pay will incur costs according to the ticket cost at the time of postponement. Terms and conditions apply to any cancellations of travel after August 31.

The duration of the suspension will be reviewed again in mid-April, pending new COVID-19 developments and pronouncements by the World Health Organisation and South Africa’s national health institutions.
