International mountain bike race, the Cape Epic, will proceed as planned despite the increasing confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Africa.
Six new cases confirmed on March 11 and four more on March 12 bring the country’s total to 17.
As of March 12, the Western Cape Government had not proposed altering arrangements for public events, and therefore the mountain biking event plans to go ahead.
A statement from the organisers asks everyone travelling for the event to make themselves familiar with respective national and World Health Organization updates in each location as well as travel policies from airlines and hotels. Withdrawal, event changes, and cancellation and refund policies remain in effect.
Taking place from March 15 – 22, the Absa Cape Epic will pass through 647 km of track, from Table Mountain National Park to the luxury of Val de Vie Estate. Entries are capped at 650 two-person teams – or 1 300 riders.
