The City of Cape Town is looking for partners to develop the city’s unfinished highway, Patricia de Lille, Cape Town Executive Mayor has announced.
The City has committed R750 million (€45m) over five years to relieve congestion across the city. “The solution to the unfinished bridges must assist our range of efforts to alleviate congestion,” the City said in a statement. Moreover, it will look at proposals, including whether the unfinished highways remain, are completed, or redesigned altogether.
As part of the development, the City is also looking to develop city-owned land beneath the unfinished highways to develop a Foreshore Freeway Precinct, which will include housing opportunities.
