The Cape Town Golf Championship, the annual tournament that takes place at various golf estates over four days, will be held from August 12-16.
This year – the eighth championship – will see a new addition to the tournament – the Par 3, 18-hole Shootout on the Sunday at 14h30 prior to the start of the championship at the Hazendal Golf Estate.
The tournament is open to amateurs and club professionals. All that is needed is a Golf Club Membership and an official golf handicap.
There are two trophies to play for: the pairs (team of two) Lime-Crop trophy and the single (individual) trophy. Teams competing in pairs can be men only, ladies only, or mixed.
“It all started nine years ago with an idea we had to try and look at increasing the business into the Western Cape during the period April to September every year. Hence the tournament taking place in August,” Reg Ferreira, Director of Business Development at Sable Hospitality Group, told Tourism Update.
The tournament will have over 100 players in 2024. “We now attract players from Namibia, eSwatini, Zimbabwe, Liberia and Zambia and, of course, South Africa,” Ferreira added.
The beneficiaries of the tournament are Friends of Valkenberg Trust and the Hillwood Golf Academy.
The four-day competition will take place as follows:
- Monday, August 12, at Atlantic Beach Golf Club.
- Tuesday, August 13, at Clovelly Golf Club.
- Thursday, August 15, at Milnerton Golf Club.
- Friday, August 16, at Durbanville Golf Club.
