The Isibindi Foundation, which falls under Isibindi Africa, has launched a massive COVID-19 Courage campaign to raise funds to provide emergency relief in the form of food, water, hand sanitisers, face masks and thermometers.

This will be for the approximately 30 000 vulnerable people who live in the communities surrounding three Isibindi Africa lodges who are particularly vulnerable.

These communities are situated deep in the heart of rural Zululand in KwaZulu Natal, in environmentally sensitive areas of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park.

“The majority of these community members are employed by Isibindi Africa lodges that have temporarily closed due to the nationwide lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We feel it is our duty to do everything we can to assist them,” reads a statement on the dedicated campaign page.

Isibindi Africa has also pledged R166 000 (€8 310) to the campaign and hopes to raise R700 000 (€35 170) to fund this campaign to provide relief for six months.
