Ethiopian Airlines has resumed repatriation flights from Harare to the United States, according to an alert on the website of the US Embassy in Zimbabwe.
The airline is currently operating flights for US citizens in Zimbabwe who wish to return to the States. They are advised to do so as soon as possible unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period as the US government currently does not anticipate arranging repatriation flights from Zimbabwe.
Travellers must make their reservation directly with Ethiopian Airlines and confirm all flight details with the airline as flight schedules and costs are subject to change.
The Zimbabwean government began a nationwide lockdown on March 30, which was slightly eased and extended indefinitely on May 16. The US Embassy in Zimbabwe says the Ethiopian Airlines flights are the only way to depart Zimbabwe at this time, as the government has closed all land borders except for returning residents.
