South Africa’s inbound tourist numbers returned to an upward trajectory in October, registering a significant month-on-month increase compared with September.
According to the latest figures from Statistics South Africa, overall, overseas arrivals increased by 16.5% (from 158 407 in September to 189 778 in October).
The growth was particularly evident in arrivals from Europe – growing from 86 228 in September to 122 599 in October.
However, arrivals from the US decreased slightly from 30 096 in September to 28 011 in October.
October arrivals were at 76.3% of 2019 pre-pandemic levels, slightly decreasing from the 79% registered in September this year.
