G Adventures has launched its G Africa operation, a newly formed company that will deliver travel experiences in Southern and East Africa with representation in Cape Town, Kenya and Zambia.
The new G Africa operation will focus on inbound travel to, and outbound travel across Africa and work closely with G Adventures’ innovation department to develop product in the region.
Nadja Lingl, Senior Operations Manager Southern Africa of G Adventures, says having its own guides – which it calls chief experience officers – sets the company apart. “We spend a week coaching and training our chief experience officers to ensure all G Adventures travellers in Africa have a life-changing trip,” she says.
The company also has a fleet of new vehicles it calls ‘Landos’.
The fleet of 10 Landos will be introduced on most G Adventures overland trips in Eastern and Southern Africa from June, with the roll-out being completed by the end of July.
Each truck features full-body seatbelts, reclining seats with side seat movement for extra shoulder room, a 250-litre water tank to reduce the use of plastic bottles, in-built WiFi, USB chargers at every seat, large front windows for better views, and windows designed specifically for photography.
The Landos will operate on 22 G Adventures Yolo itineraries (adventures for 18 to 39 year olds) covering Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. G Adventures Yolo trips in Africa are primarily camping trips (with some hotel accommodation) and are fast-paced, cover large distances, and are designed to provide younger travellers with the opportunity to see as much as possible at an affordable price.
