Google, in collaboration with the National Museums of Kenya, has launched a comprehensive and fascinating Arts & Culture online showcase of the world-famous Maasai tribe.
‘Maasai: Wisdom of a Community’ offers an immersive experience that includes more than 430 high-resolution images, 29 illustrations, 55 curated exhibits and a collection of intriguing cultural tales and information panels.
“This online exhibition is an immersive experience into the heritage and wisdom of one of Africa's most resilient and iconic communities. This body of work is yet another demonstration of how collaborating on digital transformation is making Kenya's culture and heritage universally accessible while preserving it for future generations and driving greater interest in tourism,” said Peninah Malonza, Cabinet Secretary of Kenya’s Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife & Heritage.
India-based non-profit organisation, Project FUEL, which aims to document the lives of communities around the world and share the life lessons they can provide, assisted with the project.
“This partnership between National Museums of Kenya, Project Fuel and Google Arts & Culture is a critical move towards preserving the culture of our people and our continent,” said Malonza.
The exhibit is also available on Google Arts & Culture’s Android and iOS apps.
