2018 will see the arrival of a helicopter at Jack’s Camp. Based permanently at Jack’s, guests from all three of Uncharted Africa’s Makgadikgadi camps will be able to explore this extraordinary eco-system from the air in 2018.
One of the most iconic safari camps on the continent, Jack’s Camp is a trailblazer and the helicopter flights are the latest addition to an already exhilarating range of desert activities.
Uncharted Africa will offer variety of flight options ranging from a 20 minute scenic flight over the pans to a 90 minute flight to the mysterious Kubu Island. In the green season guests will be able to get an aerial view of southern Africa’s last great migration. Every year the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans fill with zebra, springbok, oryx, red hartebeest and of course the predators who stalk them. In the dry season guests will fly over the lunaresque landscape of the salt pans. Seeing this landscape from the air and you get a true sense of the size of this geological marvel - the Makgadikgadi is the largest saltpan eco-system in the world and roughly the size of Switzerland.
The cost for the helicopter starts at $250 per person for 30 minutes and the chopper can take up to three guests plus the pilot.
All 3 nights stays at Jack’s Camp in 2018 will receive a complimentary 20 minute heli flip.
