The residents of Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) have been keeping cool this summer with lots of swimming.

HERD is South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage and earlier this year took on its youngest member, Khanyisa. The orphaned albino elephant can be seen splashing here with the rest of the herd, and while she’s grown a lot since she first arrived at HERD, she is still much smaller than her adult companions.
