The small beach town of Tofo in Mozambique has refurbished its oldest hotel – the Hotel Resort Tofo Mar.
The boutique hotel offers 13 rooms, which have en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Deluxe double rooms and suites are slightly larger than standard rooms, and offer satellite television, a bath, shower, and private verandah with a view of the ocean. A number of exclusive-use villas and self-catering accommodation are also available, with both rustic and luxurious interiors.
A fully-licensed bar and restaurant are on site, with the restaurant overlooking the ocean. A conference centre can accommodate up to 70 people.
Tofo is an 8km stretch of beach on the southern coast of Mozambique. Activities on offer include scuba diving, surfing, horse riding, and deep-sea fishing, with hideaway places to enjoy local food and drinks.
“This is a remote and exotic, but this makes for a very unique experience and has great diversity. Nature central, the sea is teeming with life and there is the Gorongoza National park,” says Raimondo Dechaud, of RVC Dechaud, a relief-management service. He says a luxury coach service was implemented recently linking Maputo with Inhambane, bringing visitors from the centres directly to Tofo.
