Today, the City of Cape Town Economic Opportunities Mayoral Committee Member, James Vos, tabled the three-year agreement with Cape Town Tourism for adoption.
This will enable Cape Town Tourism to continue with its work as the City's official tourism destination organisation.
According to Vos, the main objective is to ensure diversity and growth of the tourism sector. He confirmed that emphasis will be placed on product development and destination enhancement as a means to grow the tourism economy throughout the entire city for all to benefit.
The agreement also includes working with other cities on shared marketing platforms and strategies, to position Cape Town as a globally competitive business and leisure destination.
"Since my appointment, it has been my priority to get this agreement formalised, to ensure that we develop many more tourism-preneurs and destination awareness," concludes Vos.
