Toura Travel Therapy, in partnership with City Sightseeing South Africa (Red Bus), launched a new tour in Johannesburg on August 7 to make art more accessible to residents and visitors and redefine their experiences of the city’s cultural scene.
The package, “A Must Do When in Jozi”, includes a ride on the iconic Hop On-Hop Off Red Bus and guided visits to four of Johannesburg’s top art galleries – each demonstrating the city’s unique style and culture.
Every Wednesday and Saturday, the guided tours stop at the Everard Read and Origin Art galleries in the Keyes Art Precinct, the Melrose Art Gallery in Melrose Arch and Transwerke Studios in Braamfontein.
Visitors are accompanied by a guide who has been exploring the Johannesburg art scene for more than a decade.
The goal of this initiative is to promote domestic art tourism and inspire a new generation of tourists, art enthusiasts, collectors and artists. It aims to create an “art gallery hopping” trend through an accessible and affordable programme celebrating the African renaissance, diversity and unity.
Tickets for the five-to-six-hour tour cost R495 (€24) per adult and R365 (€18) per child and can be booked via the City Sightseeing South Africa website or kiosk in Rosebank.
