Onguma Nature Reserve, on the eastern edge of Namibia’s Etosha National Park, has partnered with the Ombili Foundation to introduce a guided cultural village experience engaging with the local San community.
Located approximately one hour from Onguma, the approximately two-and-a-half-hour experience includes visits to the Ombili community garden, school, craft centre and Bushman Trail. Guests can learn about San traditions through fire-making demonstrations, traditional dances and performances by the Ombili Community Choir.
The initiative is aimed at providing educational insights into the San people’s heritage while supporting community development through the Ombili Foundation. The tour ends with an opportunity to meet community members and purchase handmade crafts such as baskets and carvings.
The experience is available to self-drive guests at N$750 (€35) per person. A minimum of one day’s advance notice is required with bookings facilitated by Onguma. All fees are directed to the Ombili Foundation.
