With the travel and tourism trade show season now in full swing, the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and Tourism Levy South Africa (TOMSA) are planning to leverage a selection of the upcoming trade shows and industry events by hosting a series of levy contributor feedback sessions.
The feedback sessions will be hosted as part of TOMSA’s initiative to ensure that the organisation keeps in touch with levy contributors and remains accountable. The sessions will also provide an opportunity for South African Tourism (SAT) to give feedback on its destination marketing activities, as well as outline ways in which levy contributing businesses can better leverage available marketing platforms an opportunities.
TBCSA Chief Executive Officer, Mmatšatši Ramawela comments: “These feedback sessions are ‘must attend’ events not only for current levy contributors but also for all other travel and tourism businesses who are not yet part of the TOMSA community.
“Beyond the discussions about rands and cents collected, the sessions afford us, as the administrators of the levy, with the opportunity to engage and receive feedback from the trade on their experiences with TOMSA, their views about the various destination marketing initiatives of SA Tourism; and ideas on how TOMSA can further add value to their businesses.” We call on all travel and tourism businesses to take advantage of these sessions and to ensure that they attend the sessions in their respective cities.”
Levering Cape Town’s hosting of World Travel Market (WTM) Africa from April 18-20, the first leg on this three-city sessions will see the TBCSA collaborating with Cape Town Tourism (CTT), to host a feedback session at Tsogo Sun’s Cape Sun hotel on April 17, starting at 18h00.
The programme includes presentations from TOMSA, SAT and CTT.
Talks are under way with trade partners in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng to host TOMSA feedback sessions. For KwaZulu Natal, the aim is to host the feedback session in May around the time of the annual African Travel Indaba, and for Gauteng, the targeted event is the Africa Hotel Show in June.
For effective leveraging of the trade show platforms, the feedback sessions will only be held in the three main cities. All TOMSA levy contributors attending the trade shows are urged to take advantage of this opportunity and attend the feedback sessions.
