South African Tourism has partnered with the Taronga Conservation Society in Australia to bring a selection of South African experiences to Taronga’s Zoos and give visitors to the zoos a chance to win a visit to South Africa.
Visitors to Taronga Zoo Sydney will be able to see four hand-painted rhino statues, and at either of Taronga’s two zoos will be able to collect a complimentary lion hat and embark on the Wild Safari trail with their own bespoke map, reports Travel Weekly.
Those who complete the trail will receive a Safari Pass Passport and can enter a competition to win a trip to South Africa.
The trip, which is valued at AUD34 000 (US$21 400), will give winners a chance to experience some of South Africa and participate in a rhino conservation initiative. The seven-day, six-night package is for two adults and two children (under 12 years old).
It includes international flights between Australia and South Africa, domestic flights within both countries, return airport transfers in Cape Town, three nights at a four-star hotel in Cape Town, transfers to and from Kwandwe Game Lodge in the Eastern Cape, and three nights at the lodge.
The itinerary includes a half-day tour of Cape Town and Table Mountain and a half-day tour of the Cape Peninsula. At the lodge, travellers will begin and end each day with a safari game drive. They will also participate in a rhino monitoring experience where they will spend three to four hours tracking rhinos.
The competition closes on January 31, 2023.
