MPUMALANGA Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) has launched a new initiative in an effort to transform the province into a world-class tourism destination.
The key driver of this objective is an integrated tourism and biodiversity conservation management system that will attract tourists and stimulate sustainable economic growth in the province.
The initiative chosen to help achieve this is the MTPA’s ‘102 Days Quick Wins Programme’, which is a multi-faceted programme targeting many crucial business areas.
The completion of the upgrading of the facilities at the Songimvelo Nature Reserve fulfils part of the above-mentioned programme by creating jobs, strengthening the reserve’s local tourism appeal and building on its ties with the neighbouring state of Swaziland in the lead-up to the 2010 World Cup.
