Airlines in France have been ordered to cancel flights from certain airports due to planned strikes by airport workers taking place tomorrow (March 7) until Wednesday (March 8).
The 24-hour strike was announced last month, and is part of an ongoing dispute over the pension reform bill.
According to The Local, French civil aviation authority, DGAC, has ordered airlines to cancel 20% of scheduled flights in and out of Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, while 30% of flights in and out of Paris-Orly, Beauvais, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, and Toulouse must be cancelled.
Airlines have said that they will notify travellers whose flights have been delayed. Meanwhile, Paris Aéroport, owner and operator of CDG and ORY, has encouraged travellers to contact their airlines to check their flight status.
Knock-on effects and delays are anticipated to continue until Thursday evening (March 9).
Travellers have also been advised that other transport services, including trains and city public transport, will be affected by the strikes.
March 7 has been declared a day of mass mobilisation, however several unions, including those representing rail workers and Paris public transport staff, have called for ‘renewable’ strikes, meaning that it is likely the disruption will continue.
