Legend Runner (previously known as StrongmanRun), will host the fun run/walk Uphill Challenge this coming Saturday (March 20) to showcase suppliers in the tourism industry who have had no income since lockdown just under a year ago.
“The mission with the Uphill Challenge is to bring the tourism industry together and to use the event to showcase the magnificent facilities and services our industry has to offer,” said Uphill Challenge organiser, Ferdinand Rabie.
“Hope for survival has been fading and this event will help generate jobs and income during these tough times.”
Tourism suppliers will be present at the event to showcase their facilities at Paarl Rock, which Rabie describes as a “unique venue and iconic heritage site” offering spectacular views for both experienced and novice runners.
“Our aim is for this event to become the most unique annual tourism, cultural and sporting expo on the South African calendar,” he said.
Participants will run/walk uphill for 8.5 kilometres to Paarl Rock and then hike five kilometres down to the Afrikaans Language Monument. There is also a shorter, four-kilometre walking/running trail option.
