Tourism KwaZulu-Natal is planning to launch several digital programmes in the coming year, Sadha Naidoo, KZN Board Chaiperson told stakeholders at the opening of TKZN’s new offices at the Ithala Trade Centre in Durban last week.
On the mobile front, TKZN is in the process of developing the official KwaZulu-Natal Tourism app, which includes geolocation and helps users find activities, accommodation and restaurants in the province.

TKZN will also move away from traditional marketing towards digital marketing, with a strong focus on social media and digital campaigns, according to Naidoo. He said: “In the 2016/17 financial year, we will see the organisation driving a more aggressive digital marketing programme.”

Virtual reality will also be a focus in the year to come to market the destination’s experiences. TKZN will introduce virtual tours for tourists at its key tourist contact centres, as well as at local and international trade and consumer marketing platforms, said Naidoo.
Lastly, TKZN will introduce an online booking system to allow tourists to book directly with products in the province, including taking advantage of special deals advertised by the trade.
