One of 14 Hilton properties in the pipeline for Africa, a 244-room Hilton hotel is under construction in the upscale Nakasero suburb of Kampala.
This follows a hotel management agreement signed by the company and TWED Property Development on March 22, to manage a 23-storey property.
The hotel will include modern meeting and conferencing facilities that will comprise a ballroom with capacity for 500 guests, a car park for 518 cars, outdoor swimming pool, and a spa and fitness centre. It will also have dining facilities, a destination sports bar, and a skybar with views of the city, golf course and lake.
CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, Lilly Ajarova, said Hilton’s investment in Uganda was advantageous for the country’s tourism industry, as it would attract a large number of international tourists. “Hilton opens Uganda to a different segment of clientele. It is a very positive development for Uganda in terms of international reputation and quality.”
