St Helena is wooing back visitors with a new destination marketing strategy and the tagline, ‘A breath of fresh air’, and plans to grow South African and international arrivals now that Airlink has returned with a weekly flight, on a Saturday, ex-Johannesburg.
Matt Joshua, Head of Tourism, tells Tourism Update about the island’s unique outdoor and historical experiences, and the best way to plan for small groups. The island plans to add more unique adventure experiences, including, possibly, the world’s most remote marathon.
He hopes to see more flights added in 2023 and sees significant potential in the development of more combination itineraries for travellers passing through South Africa.
All visitors must have valid medical insurance for at least £175 000 that covers aeromedical evacuation. Proof of the insurance must be produced on arrival.
