Ohorongo Tented Camp, in the western region of the Ohorongo Private Game Reserve, is built into the granite boulders of a rocky outcrop. The five tented suites are elevated on wooden decks, and have private terraces, outdoor showers and comfortable in-room amenities. The camp is designed to keep guests close to Mother Nature, wrapped under canvas, while offering the modern luxuries of a lodge.
An excellent escape for adventurous guests in the Kunene region of vast northern Namibia, Ohorongo Tented Camp encourages guests to unwind and take it slowly, enjoying the incredible views from the heightened perspective of its position.
The accommodation at the camp is designed to fit in with the environment and keep nature close. Canvas tents are traditional and romantic, reminiscent of a past era of travel in Africa. These luxury tents incorporate ivory-coloured canvas, wooden floors and glass doors, giving the structures security without losing the essence of an African adventure.
Game drives and sundowners
Game drives take guests into the reserve to explore by day and night and, because the reserve is privately owned, night drives can extend well into the evening, offering a whole new dynamic and creating new memories of Africa. Sundowners at scenic spots overlooking the enchanting landscape are part and parcel of afternoon drives and are often the highlight of the guest experience.
Walking safaris
Guided walks, however, are perhaps the greatest pleasure of an Ohorongo safari. Discovering this place of history – both animal and human – on foot offers a unique look at the world, and under the expert guidance of Ohorongo guides, guests are given an understanding of how they fit into the big picture.
