African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa reopened on August 18 following a fire earlier this month. It will now operate as normal.

According to Mark Satterfield, Marriott International Business Leader in South Africa, the fire was relatively small and was contained within a limited area on the first floor of the hotel. “We have conducted a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire and, to ensure the well-being of all, the investigation confirms the safety of the building,” he says.  “There was no structural damage caused – the impact was restricted to smoke and water damage.”

Satterfield thanks the Cape Town Fire and Reserve Service and staff of the hotel for their swift action in containing the fire.
