China Southern Airlines has resumed its direct flights between Guangzhou and Nairobi. The flights were suspended while China was on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Flights operate from Guangzhou on Mondays and Saturdays using an Airbus A350.
Flight CZ633 departs Guangzhou at 01h05 and arrives in Nairobi at 07h15. Return flight CZ634 departs Nairobi at 15h50 and arrives in Guangzhou at 08h05 the following day.
The resumption of the flights will boost air recovery and international arrivals into Kenya. China is one of Kenya’s leading tourism source markets in Asia, second after India.
Kenya has also been listed as one of the countries to pilot outbound group tours from China on February 6.
According to a recently issued ministerial notice, Chinese travel agencies will be able to open outbound group travel for Chinese citizens to 20 countries – Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Switzerland, Hungary, New Zealand, Fiji, Cuba, and Argentina.
