TAP Air Portugal has introduced direct flights from Porto to Luanda. The flights were inaugurated on May 28 and will operate twice a week.
"With these new additions, TAP nearly doubles the selection of intercontinental flights at Francisco Sá Carneiro airport, enhancing Porto's connectivity to two of the most significant tourism markets, the United States of America and Brazil, as well as to Luanda, a city that is gaining importance in terms of business with the northern region," said TAP CEO, Christine Ourmières-Widener.
A 298-seat Airbus A330neo with a two-class configuration will be used on the route.
The flights will depart from Porto on Wednesdays and Sundays at 13h30, arriving in Luanda at 21h35. The return flights will leave Luanda at 23h20, arriving in Porto at 07h45 the following day.
TAP will increase the frequency of flights to New York, providing a daily connection from Porto, and will also reinforce frequencies to other international destinations in the upcoming months, according to the airline.
TAAG Angola Airlines has also announced plans to launch seasonal flights to Porto. It will offer 14 services between Luanda and Porto from December to January 2024, taking advantage of the Christmas and New Year seasons.
