The Event Greening Forum (EGF) has chosen Meetings Africa 2013, the continent’s upcoming business events showcase, as the platform for its inaugural conference as there is a strong link between responsible tourism and event greening.
Pippa Walker, Secretariat of the EGF, says the half-day conference will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, on Monday, 18 February, the Seminar Day preceding Meetings Africa taking place on 19 and 20 February. The conference, aimed at events industry players, will follow the EGF’s AGM on the same morning and feature guest speakers such as Jeunesse Park, founder of Food & Trees for Africa and an Al Gore Climate Reality Project leader; and Matthew Rosmarin, documentary maker and member of Biomimicry SA, which explores the natural world to design innovative and sustainable products, processes and systems. An interactive question-and-answer session with a networking component, ‘The Green Game’, will also form part of the day’s programme.
The inaugural conference of the EGF, officially launched at Meetings Africa two years ago, will take place from 9:00 to 12:45, and will cost R250 for EGF members and R400 for non-members.
