Wilderness has opened two new luxury mobile tented camps in Tanzania that will follow the Serengeti National Park's legendary Great Migration.
The mobile camps have been set up in key locations on the migration route, moving with the herds throughout the year. Both camps, accommodating a maximum of 12 guests each, operate under the same name, Wilderness Usawa Serengeti.
The camps are solar-powered, with rechargeable lights, charging stations, WiFi and hot water. Children aged six and up are welcome. The camp is situated within the park's walking zones, enabling it to offer guided walks as well as game drives, bird watching and stargazing.
Wilderness Chief Commercial Officer, Hadley Allen, said: "Just like the herds, we adapt. The flexibility of our sublime Wilderness Usawa Serengeti camp allows us to move at short notice between a number of seasonal hotspots across the Serengeti, ensuring guests are in the right place, at the right time, to marvel at the unfolding drama."
The Serengeti National Park is home to the Great Migration, where around two million animals, including wildebeest, zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, eland and other species, traverse more than 1 000 kilometres each year.
The camp is close to the migratory herds, but set away from high-density tourist areas.
