Does the Tourism Green Paper need to be amended?
Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, James Vos, has recently written “with great concern” to the National Tourism Department on its Green Paper on the Development and Promotion of Tourism in South Africa.
Vos noted, among others, that the paper placed far too little emphasis on the growth of the tourism economy as a primary goal. “With this as a focus, the Department would be better placed to address the issues that stifle growth while giving greater direction on the implementation of various strategies.”
