The Indaba Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre in Fourways, Johannesburg, is in the process of a property-wide refurbishment.
Rob Mickel, the hotel’s Director, told Tourism Update that all 150 rooms will be refurbished. “60 hotel rooms have already been refurbished, with 90 more to go at a rate of 10 rooms a month. The reception, restaurants, bars and patio areas will also be redone.” The Kgotla conference room will also increase from 600sqm to 1 000sqm.
Rob said the reason for the refurbishment was a significant uptick in demand. “Fifteen years ago we were out in the countryside; today we find ourselves in Fourways – a rapidly growing area of Johannesburg. We will soon be located next to the second biggest mall in Africa – Fourways Mall is under construction and set to become a ‘mega-mall’ – and expect the Gautrain to connect to Fourways in the next two years. We have seen an increase in demand and expect this to continue.”
He added that he expected the refurbishment to be complete by 2020. Bookings will be unaffected during this period.
