Tourists seeking a more affordable experience in the Mother City now have access to a pocket-friendly tourism guide released by Cape Town Tourism.
“No matter what you are looking for, Cape Town has something for you. For this reason, the City of Cape Town (CoT) has appointed Cape Town Tourism for in-destination, visitor services and tourism marketing,” said CoT Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management, James Vos.
The new pocket-friendly tourism guide was one of the projects launched as part of this collaboration, with Vos pointing out that it would ultimately boost domestic and international tourism arrival numbers and create business benefits for the city.
Busting the myth of Cape Town as an expensive destination, Vos has highlighted up to 50 activities that can be experienced in the city for R50 (€3) or less.
These include a trip on a hop-on-hop-off train along the southern line rail route that stretches between Cape Town and Simon’s Town. The trip costs R35 (€2.21) per person and offers ocean views between Muizenberg and Simon’s Town.
Another option is a free stroll through historic Company’s Garden in the city centre. And between September and January, tourists can participate in strawberry picking at Polkadraai strawberry farm in Stellenbosch.
