Brand South Africa has appointed new CEO, Kingsley Makhubela, effective August 1.

Brand SA’s Chairman, Chichi Maponya, said Makhubela would hold the position of CEO for the period 2015-2020.
“Brand South Africa is pleased to welcome Mr Makhubela on board as CEO. The trustees, management and staff of Brand South Africa are certain that his experience in public service, which includes representing South Africa as a Head of Mission, as well as his understanding of the domestic and international policy space, will be invaluable in positioning South Africa as an investment destination of choice,” said Maponya.
“It is indeed an honour to serve South Africa in the capacity of CEO of Brand South Africa. I look forward to the opportunity to work with my capable and passionate team to position South Africa as an investment destination of choice,” said Makhubela.
Makhubela recently concluded his tenure as the Director-General of the Department of Tourism and previously held the position of Chief of State Protocol at the Department of International Relations and Co-operation.
He has a Masters degree in Diplomacy from the University of Pretoria and is currently completing his PhD at the School of Political Science at the University of Pretoria.
Alice Puoane was appointed Acting CEO of Brand SA on April 1. Previously, Puoane was CFO of Brand SA.
Brand South Africa is mandated to manage the reputation of the country and position South Africa as an investment destination of choice. Brand South Africa is also mandated to work with a range of stakeholders to build pride and patriotism with a view to inculcating a spirit of active citizenship in the country.
