Rita Likukuma, Deputy Chairperson of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), has been appointed Acting Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) with immediate effect.

Likukuma is replacing the authority’s Chief Operating Officer, Givemore Chidzidzi, who was acting in the same capacity due to ZTA CEO, Karikoga Kaseke being ill.

In addition to her position at RBZ, Likukuma is also a Non-Executive Director at PG Industries, Turnall Holdings Ltd Chairperson, and Morgan & Company Board Director.

Until January 2013, she was Chairman of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, and in June 2014, was appointed a member of the Central Mechanical and Engineering Department Board of Directors. Likukuma also served as the Managing Director of the Solar Division at Art Corporation and was a Senior Executive at Unilever South East Africa.

She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Oxford Brookes University, and a Bachelor of Science Economics Degree from the University of Zimbabwe.

ZTA Head of Corporate Affairs, Godfrey Koti commented: “The Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Priscah Mupfumira and the ZTA have seconded from the board Mrs Rita Likukuma to the acting role of Chief Executive with effect from February 1, 2019. ZTA Chief Operating Officer, Givemore Chidzidzi had been acting since November 2018, on behalf of Karikoga Kaseke who has been off work on medical grounds.”
