Etosha King Nehale, the Gondwana Collection’s newest safari lodge on the northern border of Etosha National Park in the Andoni plains of Namibia, has announced a unique new offering – a visit to the Ondjumba Cultural Village.

This interactive guided cultural tour takes place close to the surrounding villages in the King Nehale Conservancy, where guests learn about Oshiwambo homesteads and the historic culture of the largest ethnic group in Namibia, the Aawambo.

Guests are led from the main entrance (‘onhu yoshiwambo’) to the main meeting place (‘olupale’), pounding room (‘oshini’), kitchen (‘epata’), cattle and goat kraal (‘oshuunda’), and many other living and working areas. There are also cultural activities on offer, such as traditional pearl millet pounding, preparation of porridge, basket weaving, snack delicacy tastings and games.

The visit lasts about three hours, including transfers to and from Etosha King Nehale to the Ondjumba Cultural Village. This activity is only bookable at the lodge.

The Etosha King Nehale Lodge offers 40 rooms alongside a plunge pool and private access to a secluded waterhole, Ontalelo Outpost.
