Zuri Zanzibar Hotel and Resort will open in May 2018 on Unguja Island in Zanzibar.
The resort will have 46 bungalows, six suites and three villas set in landscaped gardens. The bungalows can accommodate two adults and an extra bed for one child on request. The suites can accommodate up to three adults. Two of the suites have two bedrooms, semi-private bathrooms and can accommodate up to four adults and two children. The third villa has three bedrooms with a lounge, kitchen, 12m pool, terraces, game room, ocean-front location, private beach access and can accommodate up to six adults.
Other offerings include a spice garden, infinity pool, salon, gym, library, three restaurants and four bars – Upendo Restaurant, Maischa Resto & Bar, Peponi Bar, Bahari Grill & Bar and Dhow Bar.
The resort is on the sunset facing side on the northern edge of the main island of Unguja, and offers 350 metres of private beach.
The resort aims to be self-sufficient and to be certified by EarthCheck. It will use water from its own well and desalination plant and invest in water recycling and Evening Breeze, a sustainable space-cooling system. Amenities and services will be sourced from local, sustainable, and fair-trade organisations.
