Proflight Zambia has added a 114-seat Boeing 737-500 aircraft to its fleet to meet increased demand on flights to Ndola and Livingstone.

Proflight Director of Government and Industry Affairs, Captain Philip Lemba, said the airline was seeing growth in passenger numbers during the third quarter of the year. “We feel compelled to add a bigger aircraft to our fleet to meet the high demand on our domestic routes, specifically Lusaka-Ndola,” said Lemba.

The aircraft, which is operating flights from Lusaka to both Livingstone and Ndola, will also be used on the airline’s Durban routes when required, to meet additional passenger demand.

According to a recent Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) report, ZACL recorded positive growth for the first quarter of 2018; general passenger numbers increased by 12.4% when compared with the same period last year, due to reduced fares and the introduction of more domestic flights by Proflight Zambia.

The latest aircraft will enable the airline to meet demand in the short-term while it awaits delivery of the 50-seat Dash 8 aircraft.
