The second South African Adventure Summit – a platform for activity operation owners and managers from across the country – will take place in the Champagne Valley of the Drakensberg region from June 11-14.
The gathering spotlights the vibrant adventure tourism industry, uniting both small and medium-sized businesses with established industry leaders.
A collaboration of the private sector and adventure industry associations will host the Summit. Dirty Boots, SATSA and the South African Adventure Industry Association will collaborate to host the biggest-ever adventure industry get-together in southern Africa.
To kickstart the Summit, the day before conferencing starts will be a 'Day of Adventure’. Conference participants are invited to take part in various activities offered by local operators. These activities include day hikes, mountain biking, quad biking, zip lining, 4x4 tours, kayaking, abseiling, zip swings, Scootours, and horse riding.
The inaugural South African Adventure Summit took place in the Western Cape in September 2017, over three days. The event featured a series of informative talks and panel discussions, delving into crucial facets of adventure tourism such as marketing strategies, booking platforms, risk management, environmental sustainability, guide training, government insights, and immersive adventure experiences.
Adventure tourism, expected to grow in prominence over the coming years, holds significant potential for South Africa’s rural communities.
Further details, including the line-up of speakers, final costs and venue details for the conference, will be revealed closer to the event.
