CapeNature seeks proposals from experienced tour operators to conduct an experiential walking tour, commonly known as ‘slackpacking’, at Cederberg Wilderness Reserve.
The conservation organisation announced that it was seeking detailed business proposals for a two-to-three-day fully catered, portered and guided overnight experiential tour experience in its Wilderness area.
Prospective operators must meet a list of stringent criteria which includes, at least five years of experience in adventure, heritage, and nature-based tourist guiding, proven management skills, valid tour guide registration, and a focus on sourcing local staff. Financial and operational expertise in remote areas, an eco-friendly approach, and comprehensive safety measures are crucial.
Additionally, independent marketing ability, accreditation, detailed itineraries, and value-for-money objectives are required.
Proposals require several elements such as the background of the business and its owner, a detailed business plan, BEE certification, proof of tourist guiding registration, a comprehensive description of the proposed activity, operational and financial plans, a five-year marketing strategy, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
CapeNature highly recommends site visits for interested parties to gain a better understanding of the nature reserve.
The agreement is initially for a two-year probationary period with the opportunity for extension based on performance.
