Southern Africa 360 Luxury Holidays recently introduced a new way to travel in Southern Africa with its Cultural Routes Experiences, offering guests an intimate look into the culture and traditions of locals.

Guests opting for the experiences stay with locals, learning about their various ways of life, and visit communities that have kept their heritage alive, and are eager to welcome guests into their homes, sharing their experiences.

Guests can choose from three cultural routes experiences:

• The six-day ‘Discovering Limpopo’, incorporating culture, adventure and safari, such as a night spent at the eco-friendly Kurisa Moya in the Magoebaskloof area, which offers scenic nature walks, zip-lining canopy tour and a visit to a local craft brewery, to name a few.

• The 10-day ‘Limpopo Ivory Route’, also known as the African Ivory Route, incorporates culture, safari and discovery. The tour starts in an ancient cycad forest where guests hear about the lore of Modjadji, the Rain Queen, and then moves on to the Ribola Art Route, where they experience Tsonga and Venda art and culture, and learn new skills. A game drive in the Northern Kruger area is also included, as well as another safari camp bordering the Kruger National Park, known for its elephant herds and buffaloes.

• The seven-day ‘Northern Cape Explorer: This route incorporates culture and adventure in the Green Kalahari, as well as the Kalahari Red Dune Route in the Northern Cape. Guests can take a dip in a natural hot water spring at Riemvasmaak, visit the Augrabies Falls and enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the gorge. Adventure activities include a gentle paddle down the Orange River and a sand-boarding excursion on the red sand dunes. The tour also includes game viewing in Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park and a cultural interaction where guests learn some ancient tracking skills from the Khomani San Bushmen.
