TAAG Angola Airlines planned to resume flights to China early next year, said the Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas D'Abreu, during a recent press briefing in Beijing.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Angolan carrier operated a twice-weekly Luanda-Beijing route, which was suspended due to lack of profitability. While the airline has not officially disclosed a specific destination, it is exploring options for establishing a route to another city in China, apart from Beijing. Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Guangzhou are among those under consideration.
D'Abreu was in the Chinese capital to deal with the contractor and to finalise work on the new Luanda International Airport. The inauguration of the first phase of this airport is scheduled for December this year.
