The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has postponed its 20th Global Summit to give the travel and tourism sector time to recover from the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The annual event, which hosts some of the highest-level industry leaders with government representatives, was originally scheduled for April 21 – 23 but will now take place in Cancun in early autumn of 2020.
Gloria Guevara, president and CEO of WTTC, said in a statement that the council stood in solidarity with governments and organisations that are being affected by COVID-19 and that the Global Summit would provide a platform to discuss the travel and tourism’s sector’s recovery and future plans.
