Due to the current severe weather conditions experienced across the Western Cape, coupled with heavy rain and strong winds throughout the Cape Town area, Table Mountain National Park’s (TMNP) management has notified of certain closures within the park.
While the Cape of Good Hope (Cape Point as it's commonly known) remains open, the funicular service is suspended due to high winds. Boulders Penguin Colony remains accessible to visitors.
However, for safety reasons, the Oudekraal and Newlands picnic site, Deer Park, Rhodes Memorial, and Lion’s Head trails are closed until further notice.
“We urge all visitors to exercise extreme caution if planning to visit TMNP. Wet, slippery surfaces and gusty winds pose risks to your safety. If possible, please postpone your visit until weather conditions improve,” SANParks said in a press release.
