The Western Cape Provincial Parliament building is currently lit up in the rainbow colours of the LBGTQIA+ community in honour of Cape Town Gay Pride Month, running from February 5 to March 5.
The Gay Pride Parade will be held in the City on March 4.
Travellers who drive by the buildings at night will notice the rainbow colours to show solidarity with LBGTQIA+ citizens.
“This is a government and province of tolerance and acceptance, which welcomes and celebrates diversity,” said Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde.
“Our LGBTQIA+ community still faces challenges. By lighting up the Provincial Parliament we are visibly showing our support and our willingness to confront unacceptable and archaic prejudices and discrimination. We will always support and fight for equality for all our residents.”
