The upgraded Truitjieskraal interpretive trail in Matjiesrivier Nature Reserve east of the Cederberg Wilderness in the Western Cape, has been unveiled by CapeNature.
The trail takes visitors on a journey through San and Khoikhoi cultures and to rock art sites.

“The rock art and artefacts left behind by the indigenous people are so valuable and cannot be replaced, so it is vital that we preserve these memories and ensure future generations have access to this unique natural and cultural heritage,” says CapeNature CEO, Dr Razeena Omar.

Matjiesrivier Nature Reserve is a World Heritage Site and the area includes the Algeria campsite, traditional climbing and bouldering attraction Rocklands, the Stadsaal cave, and the Wolfberg Arch. The 30-metre rock formation known as the Maltese Cross can be seen from Truitjieskraal.
There are approximately 37 routes in the area.
