A temporary terminal will be built at Maun Airport to ease congestion, with completion expected at the end of September.
Puseletso Moshabeshe, Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana CEO, told attendees at the recent Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) annual conference in Kasane that construction had been delayed by tendering processes and that building would start at the end of May.
Moshabeshe added that there were plans to construct a new terminal building at the airport.
Other upgrades planned in the short term include repainting the existing terminal walls, fitting a new carpet and rearranging the desks.
Operators called for the involvement of HATAB during the rearrangement of the airport desks to ensure the process did not create more congestion.
