DMO Africa’s Eden is spreading its footprint throughout southern Africa with the inclusion of Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Madagascar expanding the association’s membership to eight countries.

The new member countries were confirmed at the Africa’s Eden AGM on August 7, joining the original member states of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

“This exciting development broadens the geographical and experiential offerings, adding new dimensions to the unique natural beauty and wildlife experiences that define the region,” said Africa’s Eden CEO Jillian Blackbeard.

Established in 1999, Africa’s Eden is a registered non-profit company domiciled in Botswana with a contingent of more than 400 members across the tourism industry. The company initially focused on promoting Victoria Falls and Livingstone. It later expanded to the greater Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) region.

Blackbeard said recent improvements in Angola’s air connectivity and its pivotal role in conserving the KAZA region made the country a valuable addition.

“As a key partner in protecting the Okavango-Kwando river system, Angola enhances the commitment to sustainable tourism and broadens the experiences available to visitors.”

Malawi has natural beauty and cultural vibrancy, Mozambique has “bush and beach” appeal and Madagascar has unique biodiversity and cultural heritage – all presenting opportunities for ecotourism development.

“Africa's Eden invites all industry stakeholders to celebrate the expansion. The inclusion of these new member countries enriches collective strength, bolsters regional cooperation and provides an exciting, unified platform for travellers and the travel trade,” Blackbeard said.

Operators from the new member countries are set to exhibit at the Africa’s Eden Global Travel Trade Show in Swakopmund, Namibia, from November 11-13.
